ON GOD & GAY COUNTRY BOPS W/ BLAKE

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It’s 2021, so who knows what could happen.

To kick things off this year, I have a special two-part feature with my songwriter friend, Blake Haney. Some fun things you might want to know about Blake are that:

  • He almost shared an elevator with First Lady Barbara Bush. Secret Service told him to “take the next one.”

  • He lived with Patsy Cline's grandson in college. Blake was lucky enough to touch one of Patsy’s cowgirl outfits she made by hand with her mother.

  • He I was on The Voice. But not as a contestant. Blake thinks he looked absolutely ridiculous on national television, but I disagree.

In today’s two part dialogue we cover a lot.

In PART ONE we’ll talk about the time Blake wrote a song about a one night stand, on being sober & vegan & Enneagram 6 & trying to date, on what our dating bios say, and the topics of inequality within the LGBTQ+ community. Oh, and privilege.

In PART TWO we’ll dive deep into Blake’s sexual education as a baptist-born, southern boy who was taught that you don’t have sex before marriage, and especially don’t have sex with boys. We also talk about religion and capitalism.

As a brief content warning, we do discuss mature topics and use some funny words so as always I would not recommend watching with your toddler.

In case you’d like to keep the conversation going with Blake, you can:

I’ve also created a list of things under the bolded Resources section at the bottom of this post. These are just the things we talked about on the podcast that you might be curious to learn more about.

Talk to you soon,

Kaia

PS - In case it wasn’t obvious, you CAN and SHOULD still be on Warmly. You can always submit your own story, or submit a topic that you’d like to hear discussed on Warmly.
