Kaia’s Favorite Podcasts Right Now
I must admit, creating a podcast has made me a lot a bit more empathetic to the podcasters who tried their darnedest but didn’t make this list. There is SO much to do, so little time. And often times, laziness prevails.
But what I have for you today is my top 10 favorite podcasts of all time (in no particular order) You may notice that I’m heavy into true crime, and I refuse to apologize for it:
A young boy discovers two barrels in the woods of his childhood park. These barrels contain the bodies of 1 adult woman and 3 young children. The only thing worse about trying to identify a murderer is when you have no idea what the identities of these victims are.
This story is about a young aspiring actress who was murdered in LA, where “girls vanish every single day.” This story involves family feuds, geo-tracking that will get you thinking twice about adjusting your Google / location services...again.
In case you have lived under a rock, this is he podcast that began an entire country’s obsession with true crime in the form of podcasts. Story to Adman Syed, who was convicted of murdering his ex girlfriend, Hae Min Lee.
This story takes place in a small town in Georgia and involves pecan fields, beauty pageants, and possible police corruption. The story follows a school teacher’s disappearance and the eventual discovery of her body years later. This podcast rocks because real updates & progress are made in the case as it is being produced.
S-Town 💯
I started listening to this and made some serious judgments about what this podcast was and was not. A puzzling story that involves a caretaker/rose gardener/clock fixer/depressive man and his fixation on a murder in his small town (in Alabama) that he affectionate refers to as Shit Town.
Good news of this story in case true crime isn’t your thang is that this story doesn’t actually involve people being murdered or dying. Almost equally as chilling, The Shrink Next Door captivates you with the story of a man who lost 30 years of his life and over $3,000,000 at the hands of his psychiatrist.
This is the story about a woman, named April, who wants to believe her father isn’t a killer, but explores the very real possibility that he could be.
The Black Dahlia is a case I didn’t know much about. You don’t need to know much to explore this podcast, which is created by some of the alleged Black Dahlia’s killer, years and years later.
Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard 💯
Dax loves talking with people, and there’s a new guest, new topic every single time. If you like celebs, and you like celebs talking about celeb things, real things, and things you never could have imagined — this is it.
This podcast tells the story of Jennifer & Sarah Hart, who along with their 6 adopted kids were found dead in their family vehicle off the side of a cliff.
Where should we begin with Esther Perel 💯
Iconic couples’ therapist Esther Perel brings those of us who love love a podcast that features raw conversations that real-life couples sit down and hash out. Topics include loss, sexlessness, infidelity, and much more.
Happy listening!
